We’re so spoiled in Rhode Island! Arriving on the scene in early June this year, Providence Flea is the newest of the fabulous outdoor markets in Providence. While we’re used to the wonderful array and plethora of open-air art markets that abound Rhode Island in the summer, this one brings an upscale, industrial antique flair not usually found in the typical Providence open-air markets. Can you believe we’re saying that? We really are spoiled!
Located on the Providence River Greenway along South Water Street, the location is a delightful place to spend an hour or two on a Sunday perusing the different antique and artist booths that dot the river’s edge. Parking is easy and a stone’s throw from downtown, while affording lovely views of the Providence skyline with cooling water breezes. Does outdoor shopping get much better?
Spend an hour, or make an afternoon of it; food trucks line the street, so there’s plenty to nibble on as you make your way through. You’ll find everything from late 1800’s antiques to mid-century mod, and that’s just the furniture. There are lots of smaller items and accessories to discover too. Everything from lamps, picture frames, nautical art to printing press letter blocks, there is a special find be found that fits everyone’s budget. Like vintage? Vintage jewelry and clothing abound and you’re sure to find the special piece that makes an outfit go from great to grand!
Deliberately conceived using the Brooklyn Flea as a model, Providence Flea has achieved the same flair, but on a smaller, and appropriate Little Rhody scale. From the unusual and quirky antique treasure to the fashion-forward find, Providence Flea delivers on its promise of upscale, industrial-meets-vintage collection of artists and antiques that are sure to inspire, delight and provide an experience that will bring you back again and again.Providence Flea is open every Sunday from 10am-4pm, rain or shine until August 26th. With over 50 vendors, and up to 10 food trucks, this is the place to go to really enjoy a summer afternoon Providence-style!
